nwoods  > Land Rover > Off Roading > Mojave Trail - 2009
On a beautiful weekend in mid-March 2009, my 7 year old daughter Megan and I (along with a small group from MJR) took our Land Rover LR3 on the famous Old Mojave Road. Using Dennis Casebier’s wonderful and educational trail guide, we set out on our grand adventure. Unlike most modern trail books, this one purposefully does not use GPS coordinates. Instead, this book navigates you through history, referencing key landmarks and a system of rock cairns along the trail to lead the way. I loved it! for a full write up of our trip, visit:http://blog.nextstepdesigns.com/?p=84

nwoods > The sky and old Cottonwood trees at Government Hole were just too cool not to photograph!
nwoods > Mid Hills Camp Site (NFS). Fire burned out thousands of acres in the year 2000, its a long way from coming back. This is the view near the front of the campground. Not very promising!
nwoods > However, the back portion of the Mid Hills campground was saved, and the Juniper pines are wonderful.

nwoods > Hole-in-The-Rock...aptly named. The "rock" is fossilized ash, and the holes are formed from steam when this region was volcanically active.
nwoods > Megan standing in the light at the far end of an awesome canyon formation within Hole-in-the-Rock. This was a photo taken steadied against a boulder. I shot about 20 images at different exposures trying to get this image. I love it!
